  • Pharmacological action

    Pharmacodynamics
    Simeticon is a physical inert substance, hence it is lack of pharmacological activity. It acts altering surface tension of gas bubbles and preventing their binding. Liberated gas is further absorbed in intestine walls and removed under intestine peristalsis.
    Pharmacokinetics
    Simeticon after oral intake is not absorbed from gastrointestinal tract and is removed unaltered.

    Symptomatic therapy of abdominal swelling (meteorism) in adults and children after 12.

  • Administration

    Route of administration and dose
    Peroral intake.
    Recommended dose to adults, elderly patients and children after 12 is NMT 4 capsules daily.
    One capsule after every main food intake with glass of water.
    The duration of course is NMT 10 days.
    Precautions
    If the symptoms resist or worsen and in case of constipation the patient should consult the doctor.
    Simet forte is not recommended to children under 12 because no relevant data are available.
    Pregnancy and lactation period
    Data on Simeticon use in pregnancy are not available. Data on the drug reproductive toxicology within studies on animals are not sufficient.
    Although simeticon is not absorbed in gastrointestinal tract and is inactive physiologically, administer Simet forte in pregnancy with care and only if in doctor’s opinion the expected benefits of medicine for mother outweigh the potential risk for fetus.
    Simeticon does not enter breast milk.
    Interaction with other drugs
    Levotiroxina binding to simeticon is possible. Levotiroxina absorption in gastrointestinal tract can be disturbed with concomitant intake of simeticon. Studies on interaction with other drugs were not carried out.
    Overdose
    No cases of overdose were reported. If the dose exceeded the recommended one, consult your physician.
    Contraindications
    Hypersensitivity to active ingredient or any excipient.
    Total intestinal blockage.
    Obstructive diseases of gastrointestinal tract.
    Effect on the ability to drive and operate mechanisms
    No effect on driving and operating other mechanisms.
    Dosage form
    Soft Gelatine Capsules, blister #15, one blister per pack, and leaflet.
    Storage conditions
    Store at temperature not exceeding 25 °С.
    Store away from children.
